A Practical Approach to Treating Parkinson’s

Parkinson Voice Project is NOW offering an online version of the organization’s highly recognized training course, SPEAK OUT!®:  A Practical Approach to Treating Parkinson’s.This intermediate-level course has been designed for speech-language pathologists and speech-language pathology graduate students and has been approved for 1.0 ASHA CEUs.  The online training course provides step-by-step instruction for using a two-part therapy approach to treat individuals with hypokinetic dysarthria, resulting from Parkinson's and related neurological disorders:  SPEAK OUT!® followed by The LOUD Crowd®.

The SPEAK OUT!® treatment protocol is based on the teachings of Daniel R. Boone, PhD, CCC-SLP, as outlined in his textbook, The Voice and Voice Therapy. In addition, Dr. Boone’s observations that people with Parkinson's can dramatically improve their communication skills if they use intent and deliberation are described in detail.  The second part of Parkinson Voice Project’s therapy program - The LOUD Crowd®- is also described in this online course, with video presentations of a group therapy session, patient testimonials, as well as details about forming and managing this group maintenance program.  Supplemental information regarding Parkinson Voice Project's music program, as well as suggestions for marketing, are also included.

As an added bonus, each participant who successfully completes this online training course will receive a “SPEAK OUT!® Therapy Kit” as a gift from Parkinson Voice Project, and Parkinson’s patients in the United States who are being treated by a SPEAK OUT! Provider are entitled to receive a SPEAK OUT! Workbook.  Please note that there is a charge for Therapy Kits or Workbooks shipped outside of the U.S.
