Presenters & Learning Outcomes
Participants who wish to file a complaint must submit it in writing within 30 days of the course completion date.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Describe the core principles and neurological rationale underlying the SPEAK OUT! Therapy Program and the role of intentional speech in individuals with Parkinson’s disease.
- Differentiate between automatic speech and intentional speech and explain how this distinction supports motor learning and functional communication outcomes.
- Demonstrate appropriate cueing strategies and clinical implementation in individual therapy and SPEAK OUT! Classes.
- Apply updated program protocols, materials, and implementation guidelines, including use of the SPEAK OUT! eLibrary and virtual service delivery considerations.
- Identify common clinical challenges and select appropriate problem-solving strategies.
- Outline best practices for transitioning patients from individual therapy to SPEAK OUT! Classes to support long-term maintenance.
- Implement program standards that ensure fidelity to the SPEAK OUT! Therapy Program model across clinical settings.

Laura Langer, M.S., CCC-SLP, is a medical speech-language pathologist and former clinical lead of the New York State SPEAK OUT! Therapy & Research Center at the University at Buffalo. She has demonstrated a deep commitment to advancing speech and swallowing treatment for people with Parkinson’s. She is grateful for the opportunity to apply her clinical, educational, and research experience in her new role as Chief Clinical & Research Officer, further advancing Parkinson Voice Project’s mission to expand access to the SPEAK OUT! Therapy Program through strengthened clinical research and the training of speech-language pathologists and graduate students worldwide.
