SPEAK OUT! & LOUD Crowd Training

Continuing Education for Speech-Language Pathologists (1.0 ASHA CEUs)

SPEAK OUT! & LOUD Crowd Training is a 10-hour self-paced course that primarily consists of a video presentation with professional voiceover and footage. Each section begins with a short written overview and ends with multiple choice questions. This course is administered through a NEW Learning portal, and we suggest using Google Chrome or Firefox when taking the course. You will need a strong internet connection.

This course reviews Parkinson Voice Project’s treatment protocol for evaluating and treating individuals with Parkinson’s and related movement disorders. It demonstrates a simple speech evaluation with stimulability testing, individual SPEAK OUT! therapy, and The LOUD Crowd group therapy. The course also describes the importance of consistent follow up for the Parkinson’s population and reviews “SPEAK OUT! Refreshers.” Sample therapy sessions and patient video testimonials are featured throughout the course.

SPEAK OUT! is based on principles of motor learning and teachings of the late Daniel R. Boone, Ph.D., CCC-SLP. In the 1950s, Boone recognized individuals with Parkinson’s could improve their communication by “speaking with intent.”

This course reviews the extrapyramidal (automatic) motor system and the pyramidal (intentional) motor system and explains WHY people with Parkinson’s can speak louder, clearer, more articulate, and more expressive when they are intentional and deliberate.

This course must be completed within 30 days.

Presenters & Disclosures

1.0 CEUs will be reported to the ASHA CE Registry following successful completion of the entire course. Partial CEU credit will not be awarded. Please allow 60-90 days for the course to appear on your ASHA CE Registry. Registration fees for this course are transferrable, but not refundable. Workbooks and flashcards that are purchased are non-refundable.
