SPEAK OUT! Grant Program

Parkinson Voice Project’s SPEAK OUT! Grant Program aims to make our highly-effective, clinically proven SPEAK OUT! program accessible to people with Parkinson’s and related movement disorders worldwide. Universities, hospitals, private practices, outpatient clinics, facilities or other rehabilitation organizations are encouraged to apply each year.

Grant awards can include free SPEAK OUT! training for SLPs, education for graduate students, clinical roundtables, group workbooks, funding for groups and research, and marketing materials.

Application period is closed.

Recipients will be announced on World Parkinson’s Day, April 11, 2023.

Universities, hospitals, private practices, outpatient clinics, facilities, or other rehabilitation organizations that want to develop or sustain a vibrant SPEAK OUT! program can apply for free training, therapy workbooks and supplies, and funding for their groups.

U.S. universities or institutions that treat adults, train graduate students, conduct research, and want to develop a free, online SPEAK OUT! program for people with Parkinson’s and related disorders throughout their state may apply.

Clinical RoundtablesNoYes – REQUIRED. The Primary SLP must attend a monthly ZOOM meeting on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, either from 10:00 am – 11:00 am OR 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm U.S. Central Time, beginning April 12, 2023.  These roundtables will be facilitated by Gwen Nolan, MS, CCC-SLP, Parkinson Voice Project’s Grant Development Officer.Yes – REQUIRED. The Primary SLP faculty member must attend a monthly ZOOM meeting on the 1st Tuesday of each month from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm U.S. Central Time beginning Tuesday, April 4, 2023. These roundtables will be facilitated by Samantha Elandary, MA, CCC-SLP, Parkinson Voice Project’s Founder & CEO.
Lead With Intent Symposium in Richardson, Texas, June 21, 22, & 23, 2023, with a $1,000 travel stipendNoNoYes – REQUIRED. The Primary SLP is required to attend this symposium. 
Up to $1,000 for Furniture, Equipment, Supplies, or Exhibit Booth Fees to Support Online or In-person Groups  NoYes. A select number of grant sites will receive this funding.See information below about $50,000 funding opportunity.
Up to $50,000 Over Five Years for Therapy & Research Fees, Furniture, Equipment, Supplies, and Exhibit Booth (no faculty salaries)NoNoYes. SPEAK OUT! Therapy & Research Centers will receive up to $10,000 annually for five years. All grant deadlines must be met, and the full $10,000 must be used each year to receive the next full $10,000 payment. 
Therapy CommitmentNo, but we hope you will begin treating patients and facilitating groups as soon as you complete training!Yes – REQUIRED. Grant sites must provide individual SPEAK OUT! therapy AND groups online or in-person and be actively recruiting new patients. Yes – REQUIRED. SPEAK OUT! Therapy & Research Centers must provide individual SPEAK OUT! therapy and groups ONLINE at NO COST to anyone with Parkinson’s or related movement disorders in their state. In-person treatment may be offered but is not required.
Research CommitmentNoEncouraged, but not requiredYes – REQUIRED. SPEAK OUT! Therapy & Research Centers must design and conduct SPEAK OUT! efficacy research with the goal of publishing findings in a peer-reviewed scientific journal within 3-5 years.
